Échasse is French for stilts, which explains why German architect-turned-product designer Theresa Rand pinched the word as the name for her elegant vase series. Aloft on lithe brass “stilts,” the smoked glass form limns the drop-like shape of a laboratory test tube, an industrial sampling that is elevated both literally and figuratively in Theresa’s creation.
