Danish architect Stine Gam and her Italian counterpart Enrico Fratesi achieve a mind-meld of sorts with Gent, a dining chair that plays on the contradictions between Scandinavian reserve and Milanese verve. Evoking a midcentury style, the design duo balances comfort and formality with the gently whimsical shape of the backrest. Upholstered in a fine textile or smooth leather, the chair has a beautifully turned wood frame in a choice of oak or walnut finishes with discreet brass detailing. And its compact shape without armrests makes Gent practical for fitting around the table, be it in the home or in a restaurant.
