BIG—the design studio Bjarke Ingels Group—derived the wide slatted seat of this outdoor chair from the disassembled slats of a barrel for Danish schnapps. Sturdy yet lightweight, Lilium is slightly wider than a traditional dining chair and the X-shaped frame allows for a bit of comfortable “give” when seated. Fashioned in solid teak and stainless steel, the materials were selected to stand up to the elements as well as harmonize when the untreated wood develops its prized grey patina over time.
