Nearly a century old and having inspired 2 spirited updates from England’s Isokon (also at A+R), Egon Riss’s original 1939 Donkey was designed to be the perfect size for storing Penguin paperbacks. With his pioneering thin layers of birch plywood forming its pronounced curves, the double bookcase is a timeless piece, handmade still in London.
