Polar plays up the contrast of a softly rounded seat and straight-edged legs to achieve a universal appeal, much like its Swiss-born but now Tokyo-based designer Moritz Schlatter. A comfortable, compact chair with a versatile character, it makes for a welcoming and and functional choice for domestic and public settings alike—and it’s stackable when not in use. The chair features a plywood seat and backrest and a frame made from solid Japanese oak, a hardwood sustainably sourced from underused small-diameter trees.
